Haiti: Disaster Relief and the Sanitation Challenge
Shortly after the catastrophic earthquake in 2010, Bob Reed from WEDC visited Haiti-- to assess the rapidly developing sanitation crisis and advise on possible solutions.
In this series of 4 short films, he describes his experiences at ground zero.
Part 1: How sanitation takes the backseat at relief camps, where the focus is on providing shelter and water supply
Part 2: What goes into setting sanitation standards, indicators and targets in a disaster-relief context
Part 3: Sanitation solutions that worked in Haiti
Part 4: Governance challenges to managing relief operations in a politically unstable country
We thanks WEDC for sharing this series and, as always, welcome you to share your field experiences as well.
With Regards,
TheWaterChannel Team
