Student in schools across the world have participated in A Walk for Water. They walk to bring attention to the water crisis in the Azawak of West Africa, to raise funds, and to save lives by building permanent water sources. In May 2010, students in Virginia at all seven Boyd School campuses became advocates for the people of the Azawak. These 600 students raised over $4,000 through A Walk for Water and Amman-a-thon events. The money will be used to complete the borehole at Kijgari, drilled by Amman Imman: Water is Life. This borehole, named the Montessori Well of Love, is dedicated to students like these at the Boyd School who have been working to bring water.
