In this lecture Ms. Eiman Mohamed Fadul explains the layout, status and conditions of the spate irrigation schemes in Sudan. Three major schemes are discussed in the lecture, namely Gash Agricultural Scheme, Toker Delta Agricultural Scheme and Khor Abu Habl. Gash Agricultural scheme, with 32,000 hectares the largest spate irrigated scheme in Sudan, is discussed in detail. Topics include its layout, flood characteristics, sediment transports, as well as land rights and operation and management of the scheme.
