Rispa gets a very low harvest from her maïze and its very small. Also, her cows sleep outside and they have ticks and diseases. Rispa cooks in her bedroom and doesn't have a kitchen area. The cows have to be dewormed. We are also told that applying dung to a wound of a cow is a myth. Dung will attract flies and cause even more infection to the wound. Rispa learns that the witch weed that is growing between her maïze is causing a 30 to a 100 per cent loss in maïze yield. It is a parasitic weed that feeds off the roots of the maïze and ends up killing the maïze.

Shamba Shape Up is the third “edu-tainment” production created by Mediae, and the first of its kind in Kenya and now crossing the borders. Aimed at East Africa’s rapidly growing rural audience, the make over style TV show aims to give both farmer and audience the tools they need to improve productivity and income on their farms.
