At the frontline of climate change and desertification, Africa’s Sahel region is a global hotspot. Rising temperatures have increased the severity and frequency of droughts. Unsustainable farm practices have led to land degradation. The communities there are thus left vulnerable.  According to Peter Gubbels (Groundswell International) the way to building their resilience goes through mimicking and facilitating natural processes—through ecological agriculture, agro-forestry, water harvesting, and supporting farmer-centric learning systems.
