Frankly speaking: Flood plains and siltation

Dr. Parvin Sultana from Middlesex University London – Department Flood Hazard Reseacrh Centre explains how flood plains are siltated with 3-4 feet of sand deposits in which farmers can not grow crops. To preserve the water, farmer excavate a shallow ditch in which water percolates down. Water is collected during the night and it will be used during the day.
