Windmill-powered Water Pumps in Wajir, Kenya

In the water-scarce Wajir district in Northern Kenya, a windmill-powered groundwater pump reduces the time and effort that it takes women to fetch water. This is a cooperative farm, run by a women’s group who share the revenues between themselves. Installation of the system was facilitated by Arid Lands Development Focus (ALDEF), Kenya.
