CSIR Getting to grips with groundwater

The CSIR studied the Cape’s Table Mountain Group aquifer in an attempt to understand how it supports rivers and wetlands in the fynbos biome. The research confirmed that the ecological role of the aquifer is critical in terms of maintaining hydrodiversity in the fynbos. The research also helped the City Council of Cape Town understand the feasibility of using the resource for bulk water supply.
